A dedicated and diligent sports medicine specialist, Marisa Formica, MD, provides innovative orthopedic treatments for patients of all ages. Dr. Formica welcomes new and existing patients to Able Orthopedic & Sports Medicine, located in Forest Hills, New York.

After earning her Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in Miramar, Florida, Dr. Formica, relocated to New York. She completed her family medicine residency at Glen Cove Hospital – Northwell Health on Long Island, where she served as chief resident. She went on to complete a specialized fellowship in sports medicine through the Louisiana State University (LSU) Baton Rouge General Medical Center. 

To ensure she’s up-to-date with the latest advancements in orthopedic medicine, Dr. Formica maintains a professional membership with the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Formica is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in both family medicine and sports medicine. 

Dr. Formica has a long history of treating patients from the high school level all the way up to major league baseball players. Throughout her career, Dr. Formica has even had the opportunity to care for athletes from the LSU Tigers Division 1 sports program, as well as players from Southern University Jaguars in Division 1AA. 

Even though Dr. Formica can diagnose and treat a variety of acute issues and sports injuries, she can also care for patients who have chronic conditions, such as arthritis. Dr. Formica specializes in innovative treatments, including ultrasound-guided injection therapy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, and trigger point injections, to name a few.
