Mehran Manouel, M.D., F.A.A.O.S.
Able Orthopedic & Sports Medicine is headed by
Dr. Mehran Manouel, a board certified orthopedic surgeon and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (F.A.A.O.S.).
With over 20 years of experience performing Arthroscopic Surgery, with an emphasis on ACL Knee Reconstruction and Shoulder Rotator Cuff Repair, Dr. Manouel helps patients of all ages to resume normal activities, as well as athletes and physically active individuals to perform at the highest possible levels.
He is a graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, and following his residency in orthopedic surgery he completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at renowned Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, which has one of the top ranked Sports Medicine programs in the United States. During his time in Houston he participated in the care of professional athletes including players from the NFL’s Houston Oilers football team, the NBA’s Houston Rockets basketball team, and MLB’s Houston Astros baseball team.
Dr. Manouel is a former Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, leading the training of orthopedic surgery residents and interns at Mount Sinai and Elmhurst Hospitals, as well as surgical and clinical training of Senior Orthopedic Residents from various leading hospitals in New York, including Lenox Hill and Kingsbrook Hospitals, and Beth Israel Medical Center.

Marisa Formica, M.D.
Dr. Marisa Formica is a native New Yorker. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University and completed medical school at Ross University. She is a board-certified specialist in both family medicine and sports medicine. Dr. Formica is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Formica completed her residency in family medicine at Northwell Health – Glen Cove Hospital in Long Island where she served as chief resident. Dr. Formica then completed a sports medicine fellowship at LSU/Baton Rouge General Medical Hospital. During her fellowship, Dr. Formica served as the sports medicine fellow for the LSU Tigers Division 1 sports program and the Southern University Division 1AA Jaguars, as well as local high schools. Dr. Formica also had the privilege of working with Major League Baseball players.
Dr. Formica has provided event coverage to local triathlons and volunteers as part of the medical staff at the New York City Marathon.
Dr. Formica sees patients of all ages for a variety of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. Whether it is an adolescent athlete trying to return to their sport activity, an individual trying to return to exercise for their overall health, or those affected with chronic arthritis trying to return to daily life, Dr. Formica’s goal is to return you to your activities as quickly and safely as possible without surgery.
