Dr. Mehran Manouel
, a board certified orthopedic surgeon and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (F.A.A.O.S.).

With over 20 years of experience performing Arthroscopic Surgery, with an emphasis on ACL Knee Reconstruction and Shoulder Rotator Cuff Repair, Dr. Manouel helps patients of all ages to resume normal activities, as well as athletes and physically active individuals to perform at the highest possible levels.

He is a graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, and following his residency in orthopedic surgery he completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at renowned Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, which has one of the top ranked Sports Medicine programs in the United States. During his time in Houston he participated in the care of professional athletes including players from the NFL's Houston Oilers football team, the NBA's Houston Rockets basketball team, and MLB's Houston Astros baseball team.

Dr. Manouel is a former Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, leading the training of orthopedic surgery residents and interns at Mount Sinai and Elmhurst Hospitals, as well as surgical and clinical training of Senior Orthopedic Residents from various leading hospitals in New York, including Lenox Hill and Kingsbrook Hospitals, and Beth Israel Medical Center.


 

Yariv Maghen, M.D.

Dr. Maghen is an orthopedic surgeon with specialty in hand and upper extremity surgery.  He is a graduate of UCLA (with honors) and of New York Medical College.   He completed his general orthopedics training in Westchester Medical Center, New York – A level 1 trauma center serving the entire Hudson Valley.  Dr. Maghen then completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery in Mount Sinai Hospital and in NYU Tisch Hospital in New York City, where he was trained by world leaders in the field.

Dr. Maghen is strongly committed to evidence based medicine, patient education, and shared decision-making. Evidence based medicine means that Dr. Maghen incorporates into his practice the most updated scientific literature regarding state of the art treatment of various hand orthopedic conditions.  Communication with the patient is of vital importance in his practice, and he makes every effort to accomplish it.  An informed patient can help make the best educated treatment decision regarding his or her condition.

In addition to general orthopedic conditions, Dr. Maghen diagnoses and treats various hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder disorders.  He employs both surgical and non-surgical options in treating various musculoskeletal disorders.



Our Staff

Able Orthopedic's staff includes a Senior Orthopedist and a highly trained and qualified Registered Physician's Assistant (R.P.A.).

Our team includes an experienced X-Ray Technician, Medical Technician, and in-house Billing. Our experienced staff is multilingual, and languages spoken at Able Orthopedic include: English, Spanish, Hebrew, Farsi and Russian.

 

Louis Guillaume, SA

Louis Guillaume is a Foreign Medical Graduate and orthopedic surgeon from abroad. He works at Able orthopedics as a "Specialist ASSISTANT" in orthopedics and is a Board-certified Orthopedic Physician Assistant. He brings 17 years of practice in the orthopedic field and was a former fellow in sports medicine at the "Hospital for Joint Diseases" in New York City and a fellow in adult and joint reconstruction surgery, pediatrics and spine surgery at "Cochin Hospital" and "St Vincent de Paul Hospital" in Paris. He is an active member of the AAOPA as an Orthopedic PA certified by the NBCOPA and a member of the AMHE a medical society of Haitian Physician Abroad. He worked as a House physician in the Memorial health care system in Florida and recently has been practicing in New York City at Able Orthopedics, also assisting Dr. Mehran Manuel in different surgical procedures in "Surgery centers" and the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health care system. He is an additional asset in communication with patient of foreign speaking languages like Creole, French and Spanish.


 

Kim Thoman, ATC

Kim Thoman, certified athletic trainer and physician extender, specializes in the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries. Her clients include active individuals of all ages, from competitive athletes to industrial workers.

She recently accepted a position with Able Orthopedic and Sports Medicine where she will work as Community Outreach Coordinator, a new program began by the practice of Mehran Manouel M.D., F.A.A.O.S.

Ms. Thoman completed her degree in Athletic Training at Stony Brook University. As a student at USB, she worked with NCAA Division I Football, Women's Basketball, and Women's Soccer. Kim has spent the past three years working in the Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitative Medicine Department at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. She has also served as Head Athletic Trainer at Polytechnic University and worked with Premier Development League team, of the United States Soccer League, Brooklyn Knights.


 

Leonard Coby, PA

Len Coby is a born and raised New Yorker. Initially trained as a medical corpsman he served in the Army as a combat medic in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medals. Upon his return to New York he returned to Hunter College and then went on to training in the US Public Health Service as a physician assistant. Mr. Coby is one of the first physician assistants and he brings 35 years of experience to Able Orthopedics. Mr. Coby's prior positions have included: Chief PA at Placid Memorial Hospital, running the emergency room during Lake Placid's Winter Olympics,  Physician Assistant at Bone and Joint Hospital in the Industrial Medicine Emergency Room, and he has functioned as a physician assistant in some of the most prestigious orthopedic offices in New York. On a personal level, Mr. Coby is married for 33 years to a NY City Public School teacher and he is the proud father of a doctoral candidate in School and Child Clinical Psychology.
